Galloway Steers

The Galloway steers are from the southwest of Scotland and is one of the hornless cattle species. Due to their large, double coat, these animals are easily kept outdoors all year. Because they absorb the heat from the hide, and not from fat stores, Galloways have a very tender meat. The Romans appreciated the good-natured animals and they were the only creatures allowed to come over Hadrian's Wall from the wild Scottish countryside.
